After all, on the evening of December 16, between 4 and 5, Sanders was murdered. Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Chandrashekhar Azad had a hand in killing him. After the murder, efforts were made to arrest these three with great enthusiasm, but even after making more efforts, none of the three revolutionaries could be arrested.
Bhagwati Charan Vohra, Durga Bhabhi and Bhagat Singh and Rajguru together made a plan to leave for Lahore. According to this plan, Bhagat Singh went from Lahore to Calcutta in the first class compartment of the train with his wife and orderly in the guise of an American sir. Durga Bhabhi was the wife of American Sahib and Rajguru had disguised as an orderly. Azad also went out of Lahore in the guise of a sadhu in the same vehicle.
It is said that at some station on the way, Bhagwati Charan, standing near the box of American dressed Bhagat Singh, told his wife Durga, “You actually got married with me today”. After the murder of Sanders, when the arrest started in full swing, both Bhagwati Charan and Durga became invisible. Durga then went to Calcutta with Bhagat Singh in the guise of an American woman and Bhagwati Charan had gone towards Uttar Pradesh. Events reveal that Durga and Rajguru did not go to Calcutta. Bhagat Singh went to Calcutta alone.
For one and a half year, Bhagat Singh kept roaming here and there in the condition of absconding. Where they were told and what they continued to do – nothing could be known in this regard till date, only it could be said that for one and a half years they were almost invisible. On the other hand Bhagat Singh first went to Calcutta and then went to Agra. In Agra, he along with his comrades planned to bomb the Central Assembly Hall of Delhi.
According to the plan of Bhagat Singh and Dutt, in the month of June 1929, an explosion was carried out in the Central Assembly Hall in Delhi, as a result of which Bhagat Singh and Dutt were arrested and sent to Lahore Jail. First he was kept in Delhi jail and then sent to Miyanwali Jail in Lahore. Rajguru, Sukhdev etc. were already arrested and kept in Miyawali Jail.
The revolutionaries could not be treated well in jail, so they put some of their demands in front of the government. When the government was not paying heed to their demands, they started fasting. In the days when the fast was going on, Bhagwati Charan, Azad together made a plan to free Bhagat Singh in consultation with each other. The plan was that when Bhagat Singh was taken to another jail due to his fast, he should be freed by throwing a bomb at the police vehicle on the way. It is said that Durga Bhabhi had gone to jail two or three times in the guise of Bhagat Singh ji’s aunt and informed her about the plan.
If the plan is well prepared, then surely It was decided that before detonating the bomb, it should be tested. It should not happen that the explosion does not happen on time and the whole plan fails. On 28 May 1930, Bhagwati Charan and Azad went to a deserted place on the banks of the Ravi river to test the bomb. Azad was sitting some distance away, but Bhagwati Charan took a bomb in his hand and started testing it. He said “the cap is looking a little loose”
