Baji Rout Biography in Odia
Nilakanthapur village is located on the banks of the Brahman river, about 3 km from Bhubaneswar. To reach this village, one has to cross the Brahman river by boat. Razi was born in that village. Baji Raut of the Dhenkanal community was a so-called Banarasena Janata activist. Residents of Neelkanthpur village were preparing to protest against the inhumane treatment of police in Bhubaneswar village. He was joined by Baji Raut, a 12-year-old boy.
Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, October 11, 1938, at the Brahmin River in Nilakanthpur at around 4 am. Community workers drowned the government boat there to prevent them from crossing the boat. There was only one private boat. Some villagers refused to let go of the boat, leaving them stranded. Baji Raut is sitting on the boat’s manga.

Although Baji Raut was a young boy, he was sympathetic to the government’s satyagraha movement against the king’s misrule. He left for Dhenkanal on September 12, 1938, to attend a meeting against the king. There, his speeches on the approach of the people caused a stir in his heart. That is why he did not leave the army that day on the boat.
The police photographs driving out of the Menureor worker found no other way. Five people, including Bajirao, were killed. Everyone was devastated, especially by the death of Komalmati Baji Raut. The massacre was widely condemned. The bodies of Baji Raut and four other martyrs were taken in a procession and cremated on October 12 at Khannagar Cemetery in Cuttack.
